Food Safety Coordinator
Location : Chatham, ON,
Department : Other Support Functions
The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, execution, and implementation of key food safety programs for the site, which include Raw Material Sampling Plan, Finished Product Sampling Plan, Environmental Monitoring, and other food safety initiatives and certifications. The Food Safety Coordinator will perform key functions for quality and supply chain. The Coordinator must be able to communicate and interact with all departments and levels of personnel and assimilate pertinent information and data. The Food Safety Coordinator is responsible to ensure all products produced at this site meet all local and federal regulations and is safe and wholesome. In addition, meets all requirements mandated by BRC or FSSC 22000. The Quality Assurance Technician ensures food and employee safety in his/her daily routine.
Responsibilities
•Maintenance of the Food Safety/ QA Corporate Programs to ensure all regulatory/ customers’ requirements are met.
•Ensure the facility is in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements (CFIA & FDA, etc.)
•Ensure GMP and PRPs requirements and policies are implemented and respected.
•Develop, implement, and coordinate food safety programs including HACCP, Environmental Monitoring, Pest Management, Traceability, Block-Hold-Release and sanitation validation programs.
•Monitor production activities to ensure compliance with HACCP plans and review all Critical Control Point (CCP). monitoring and verification records to ensure compliance with HACCP critical limits.
•Responsible for food safety risk analysis and implementing corrective and preventative actions.
•Responsible for Customer Complaint investigations, root cause analysis and preventive control programs.
•Monitor HACCP and SOPs to ensure policies & procedures are properly carried out.
•Lead third party and internal audits and their preparation and follow up (GFSI, Customer, and Regulatory).
•Maintain and ensure the various certifications (GFSI, Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO etc).
•Support Food Safety & Quality Culture, and Continuous Improvement processes.
•Attend and participate to HACCP/Food safety & Quality Plant Management Meetings.
•In the absence of the QA Manager, represent all Food Safety Systems and Processes.
•Ensures compliance with all food and employee safety policies and procedures
Requirement
•Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or in related filed, Or College Diploma plus 3 years experiences.
•At least 2 years of experience as a Food Safety or Quality Assurance professional in the food industry.
•Strong experience in developing and maintaining Food Safety & Quality Assurance programs.
•Previous experience of Quality Assurance or Food Safety Coordinator/Supervisor/Manager will be an asset.
•HACCP Certifications and Knowledge of GMPs, and Environmental Monitoring programs.
•Training on PCQI, FSVP and Internal Audit will be considered as an additional asset.

• Check that the receiving documents are filled in correctly;
• Receive truckers and ensure compliance of the goods to receive and ship;
• Inspect incoming material and trucks according to ISO procedures;
• Keep the register of warehouse activities up to date;

• Support the preparation and printing of documents required for shipments;
• Initiate continuous improvement projects;
