Information Security Expert
Career Location : Omantel Head Office
Role Purpose
To accomplish information security initiatives for the entire organization and handle information security related projects; work closely with Information Security Coordinators from different departments to ensure information security related requirements are identified and addressed in the timely manner.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES
Key Accountabilities
Key Activities
1. Information Security Planning
· Establishes an effective Information Security Management system (ISMS) in Omantel
· Responsible to align ISMS goals with Business goals and provide strategic direction and support in establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing and improving the ISMS.
· Provides direction and works as a central point of contact for all ISMS Security Related activities
· Designs, documents, implements, maintains & reviews Security strategies, plans, policies, procedures etc. to ensure adequate security is provided for ISMS Assets and meet all regulatory requirements
· Plans and implements programs on security awareness and training for employees and vendors of Omantel in coordination with Training department under HR
· Plans and implements review programs to verify the adequacy and effectiveness of implemented security controls
2. Information Security Operations
· Works across teams and business areas to ensure that all stakeholders are aware and fully briefed on ISMS
· Works closely with IT, Finance & Legal department to validate the business and technical requirements identified during RA exercises
· Manages relationships with all departments in Omantel to ensure a cohesive ISMS
· Ensures security controls are implemented by concerned stake holders of the ISMS. i.e. Internal Staff & External Parties
· Ensures Information Security Steering Committee (ISSC) meetings are conducted regularly and necessary action/approvals related to ISMS are managed during the meetings
3. Compliance
· Facilitates periodic independent reviews of ISMS and facilitate internal or external Audit
· Coordinates with different stakeholders for timely closure of any non-conformity reported during audit of the ISMS
· Periodically conducts Risk Assessments (RA) to identify, assess and mitigate security risks
4. Budgeting & Reporting
· Prepares the Business case and forecasts the requirements related to information security and coordinates with management, Finance & CEC committee for approvals.
· Updates the Manager information security & executive management on the overall effectiveness of ISMS against the established policies and procedures
· Ensures necessary budgetary approvals for the ISMS initiative from manger IS, VP INU , ISSC , CEC and Executive Management
5. Knowledge Management
· Updates Information Security Steering Committee on the compliance status of ISMS against all regulatory requirements and international standards
· Assesses the Information Security implications of any proposed technological or organizational changes and accordingly reviews the relevant components of ISMS
· Stays updated about all latest developments in the field of Information Security and imbibe the latest best practice into the ISMS
Qualifications

· Deep Knowledge of Telecom and IT

· Project Management
· knowledge of all applicable information security related compliance
Education /
Certifications
· Bachelors’ Degree in Electronics/ Information Technology or in a relevant field
· ISO 27001 Lead Auditors/Implementation
· ITIL
Experience
· At least 7 years of relevant experience
