Depending on the candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience the starting pay will be $39.38 per hour, plus a yearly $20,980 northern allowance, complemented with a comprehensive benefits package. xperience in the following areas is necessary:
A journeyman certificate as an OBM (Oil Burner Mechanic) with minimum of 5 years' experience in the trade.
Knowledge of northern building practices and building codes
Supervisory experience and experience working in a cross culture environment would be considered an asset.
The ability and willingness to mentor apprentices staff members under your direct supervision
The ability to compile or forecast the required list of inventory items required to a job and for the authorities operations for a given year.
The Cape Dorset housing Authority is accepting resumes from qualified candidates holding a journeymen red seal for the following position;
Oil Burner Mechanic (OBM)
Reporting to the maintenance foreman you will be responsible for; inspecting the buildings to ensure they are in satisfactory condition, carrying out necessary building maintenance including both preventative and demand for 279 public housing units as well as 60 Nunavut Government staff housing units, completing records of all maintenance repair, working with a computerized maintenance program, and mentoring apprentices that are employed with the organization.
