In addition to a broad offering of meats, each of her stores carries some unique products and food items specific to each store’s local marketplace.
Vacancy requirements :
The team at Leslieville location are looking for a Prepared Foods Cook / Chef with food preparation experience. If you are interested in working in a fun, friendly and fast paced work environment, we would love to hear from you!
Wage: $18 in hour, depending on experience.
Group benefits are offered following the qualification period for full time employees.
Qualifications:
Retail/restaurant cooking experience is required
High school education or equivalent; butcher apprentice or diploma in culinary arts is preferred
Experience in retail meat cutting environment and knowledge of the meat industry is preferred
Experience working in customer service industry; grocery experience is preferred
Excellent verbal communication skills are required
Ability to safely handle meat cutting tools, including: knives, saws, power tools, grinders and slicers, etc.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment sometimes doing repetitive tasks
Ability to work well with others in a busy retail store
Ability to prioritize work tasks, multi-task, and maintain focus while working under pressure
Ability to handle standing, bending, lifting, reaching frequently
Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in a cold environment
Worker Health & Safety Awareness Certificate is an asset
Valid Food Handler’s and First Aid Certifications are an asset
Must have flexible availability
Responsibilities:
Prepare delicious and fresh foods including salads, soups, sandwiches and burgers
Process and pack chicken, burgers, ribs, and other food items
Receive stock and put it in the proper storage space
Ensure proper inventory control and product rotation to maximize product freshness and availability, while minimizing waste
Assist customers with special requests and answer questions about our meat and other products and services
Work in compliance with all food handling and health & safety policies and laws
Operate equipment such as meat saws, slicers, grinders, wrapping machines, and knives
Ensure work areas are clean and sanitary at all times
Other duties are assigned as required by the business
