Preventive Maintenance Technician

Location : Bellows Falls, VT

Job Summary:
The Preventive Maintenance Technician supports the work of the Vacuum Coating Technicians by performing regular preventive maintenance, chamber cleanings, and maintaining hardware and equipment.

Responsibilities:

Clean vacuum coating chambers and related components
Remove components and clean using appropriate method and equipment
Reassemble equipment to precise dimensions
Inspect components to evaluate wear, identify needed repair or other service needs
Perform general repairs on equipment
Clean and service tooling and other related components
Monitor and maintain performance of ancillary equipment
Works with Coating Groups and Maintenance Team to maintain appropriate service schedule
Monitor supplies related to work and requisition
Appropriately document work in relevant logs
Maintain orderly, clean equipment, and work space
Communicate in a clear, effective and professional manner
Support coworkers by helping when it is appropriate
Follow through on tasks responsibilities and projects
Be organized when helping to solve problems, supporting project teams, or instituting goals

Qualifications:

Previous experience with vacuum system maintenance preferred
Basic mechanical and electrical skills
Self-starter, detail oriented, independent worker
Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities
Excellent organizational skills with a proven ability to maintain the physical cleanliness of the workspace.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a history of satisfying internal customers. Not only able to perform assigned tasks successfully, but keep customers informed of changing situations.
Excellent work ethic and attention to detail
Ability to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization

Physical Requirements:

Ability to enter data into computer systems, typically utilizing a computer keyboard
Close vision for repair and computer work
Regular, predictable attendance to meet production demands and be available to internal customers
Ability to utilize hand tools that require wrist rotation
Ability to grasp and move very small objects (generally mechanical components) while wearing heavy gloves
Able to maintain grasp on objects while operating wet blaster
Ability to climb ladder, bend/kneel to access machinery
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
Ability to work above head for up to 5 minutes
Able to hear changes in sound of machinery operation to help identify problems
Requires standing for periods of up to an hour

Work Environment:

Chroma is a fast paced, collaborative, high tech manufacturing environment
Primary duties are performed in our cleanroom which requires wearing a lab coat, hair net, dedicated shoes, gloves and a beard net when applicable
A significant portion of time will be spent in an area where noise level can reach 92 decibels. Hearing protection is available and advised
This role routinely uses hand & power tools and diagnostic equipment
Individuals in this role may be required to perform maintenance activities and/or carry a pager outside of their regularly scheduled hours

Human Resources Director

Bellows Falls, VT

Job Summary:  This position is responsible for all Human Resources activity at Chroma, including; compliance with state and federal employment laws, hiring and retention practices, promoting organizational advancement, recommending and administering personnel policies, record-keeping for employee records and benefits, and exit processes. The individual in this position supervises the HR Assistant.

Responsibilities:

Plan, develop, organize, implement, and direct the organization's human resource function
Ensure Chroma’s compliance with all federal and state employment laws.  Advise the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and managers on state and federal employment law, as well as any other individuals legally perceived to have a supervisory role.  Inform the Board of Directors of any known changes in the employment laws
Coordinate hiring processes and facilitates interviews
Advise the Executive Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and Managers on all HR topics including recruitment, hiring practices, and performance management
Ensure new employees complete a comprehensive on-boarding and orientation process
Coordinate employee reviews and facilitates review sessions
Promote a positive culture with high employee engagement
Regularly interact with all members of the organization
Solicit feedback and suggestions
Monitor morale and job satisfaction
Communicate policies, behavioral norms, and core values, as guided by Chroma’s Mission Statement, the Executive Leadership Team and the Board of Directors
Report on achievements, successes and challenges
Administer employee health and welfare benefits, Participate in selecting Chroma’s benefit vendors, and recommend changes to existing plans
Formulate recommendations to the Board of Directors for personnel policies and procedures
Maintain job description system.  Assist in identification and development of skills sets needed for each job.  Assist in developing training plans for each job
Advocate for employees and consult with them on personal problem-solving, including referrals to EAP
Prepare budget for training, advertising, and benefits and approve related expenditures
Consistently promote high standards through personal example and communication
Continually assess HR programs and practices to ensure competitiveness and attractiveness to our current and future employees, including benchmarking with relevant comparable companies, industries and markets

Qualifications:

A minimum of five years of experience as a Human Resources generalist with a degree or equivalent additional experience
Expertise in employment law including but not limited to HIPPA, disability, workers compensation, COBRA, harassment, and discrimination
Experience with Employee Owned or distributed management cultures preferred
Strong knowledge in payroll and healthcare plans and administration,
Strong background in recruitment practices
Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Self-starter, detail oriented, independent worker
Excellent organizational skills and able to organize and manage multiple priorities
Able to multi-task and handle a fast pace
Demonstrated experience leading teams and able to work effectively with all individuals/groups within the organization
Ability to analyze and resolve problems
