Role synopsis
Provide environmental technical and specialist expertise and leadership for operational activities (Global Operations Organsation or Global Wells Organisation or Global Projects Organisation GOO or GWO or GPO)
Provide direction and coaching to functional and operational staff
Support delivery of the Regulatory Compliance & Environment (RC&E) agenda
Provide day to day operational and SME support and advice on environmental issues and permit compliance
Provide advice and coaching to Area leadership on legislative requirements and BP standards so they are understood, implemented and sustained at all levels of the organisation
Identify/assess/advise on region risks related with area of expertiseCo-ordinate regulatory inspections /compliance tasks and monitor delivery of inspection findings and requirements through Traction or CMS system
Key accountabilities
Support operating entities to address environmental concerns, evolving BP standards and practices, and emerging regulatory requirements. Support assessment and mitigation of environmental risks
Advise on and oversee delivery of effective implementation of environmental policies and procedures required to meet regulatory and BP requirements.
Provide subject matter expertise in support of internal and external reporting.
Support entity delivery of OMS requirements for sub-element 3.6. Facilitate and support implementation, management, and certification of the environmental management system (ISO 14001)
Provide leadership on environmental issues of concern and act as a technical resource for operational activities on environmental requirements and regulations.
Support investigation of environmental incidents, sharing of learnings and implementation of corrective actions
Conduct verification activity as to whether E&S data in the region (as used for reporting) is correct
Support implementation of environmental policies and procedures required to meet regulatory and BP requirements in the Region

Support the integration of environmental learnings into regional procedures.Build regional competency in Environment personnel through mentoring, skills evaluation & training
Prepare required environmental reports to regulators, industry organizations and BP.
Provide guidance and awareness training to the Region on BP’s environmental strategies
Support preparation of Environmental (and Social data) for external/internal reporting, and Sustainability Report for the Entity in Region
Essential Education
BSC in Chemistry, Environmental, or Biology
Essential experience and job requirements
Minimum 5 years with Environmental experience in oil and gas upstream industry
Must be Omani National
