Research Emphasis
KAIST put much emphasis on research projects that will benefit industries and humanities. There are many research programs in KAIST including HRHR (high risk high return) which encourages creative research, URP (Undergraduate Research Participation) which makes possible for undergraduate students to research under the qualified professors in KAIST, and EEWS program (energy, environment, water, sustainability) which focuses on solving pressing needs in the fields of energy, environment, water, and sustainability.

Dormitory
All students can stay in the KAIST dormitory for approximately 91,000 KWR per month which is very inexpensive compared to other options. Living in the dorm will help you to save significant amount of money because of the lower rent costs and other costs such as transportation.
Selecting Major in Second Year
In KAIST, students cannot select a major in freshman year, but students can select majors in their second year without any additional requirements.
