The harbour craft Marine Assistant plays an important role in supporting maritime activities at the port of Singapore.
This role includes ensuring that the cleanliness of the boats are maintained at all times.
The Marine Assistant will be tasked with assisting the Steersman/Engine Driver in conducting basic necessary checks and lookouts and ensure that safety of passengers are maintained are all times during embarkation and disembarkation.
A Marine Assistant upon qualifying as either a Trainee Steersman or Trainee Engine Driver in about 6 , 8 months, can expect to earn a starting salary of $1,000 a month.
Upon qualifying as a Steersman/Engine Driver in the next 3 to 6 months, he can expect to get salary $1,500 to $2,000 a month.
This job opportunities for further progression to give good performance and work experience, the Steersman can further advance to become a Helmsman while the Engine Driver can further advance to become a Port Limit Special Grade Engine Driver, get salary more than $2,000 a month.
Job Requirement
- Maintain cleanliness of the deck, engine room and wheelhouse of the craft
- Perform lookout duties on the craft
- Handle craft's mooring ropes during berthing and unberthing

The harbour craft steersman have important role in supporting maritime activities in the port of Singapore.
This job role includes : ferrying of ship agents and seafarers between vessel and shore, ferrying harbour pilots to board commercial ships, and the transporting and supplying of ship stores and provisions to ships at anchorages.
As you are Trainee Steersman will be tasked by assisting the Steersman in; ensuring safe boarding of passengers, docking of the craft , loading and unloading of goods.
The Trainee as Steersman can get salary of $1,000 a month. When he qualifying as a Steersman from 3 to 6 months, he can get $1,500 to $2,000 a month.
This job opportunities for further progression to give good performance and work experience, the Steersman can further advance to become a Helmsman, with more than $2,000 a month.
- Boat navigation and overall in charge of ship

As marine mechanic will work on inboard and outboard boat engines and equipment.
Marine Mechanic must diagnose problems with marine vessels, repair and service engines and engine parts, petrol systems and clutch assemblies.
Also must repair and service marine transmissions, propeller drives and jet drive propulsion systems and trailers, install and repair marine electrical, electronic and ignition systems, and inboard marine hull equipment and instruments.
As Marine Mechanic he can get a salary S$1,400 per month .
