The EU's interior and justice ministers said in a joint statement that the new amendments would make European visa procedures faster and clearer for legitimate travelers.
The Schengen Visa Info website said the amendments were proposed for the first time in 2018, adding that "they may enter into force from January 2020 if they are finally approved next month."
Among the amendments approved are visa applications for up to 6 months, not later than 15 days before the flight, as well as the possibility of filling out the application form and signing it electronically.
