Reporting to the Supervisor, Cross Connection Control, this position is responsible for the inspection of industrial, commercial, and residential developments within Calgary to ensure compliance with all relative standards codes and by-laws associated with cross connection control. Primary duties include:
Interact with and educate customers regarding cross connection control requirements.
Inspect industrial and commercial and multi-family residential developments, troubleshoot Cross Connection Control related issues.
Prepare inspection reports regarding by-law and code infractions/deficiencies, and work with Bylaw to enforce compliance.
Respond to emergency calls relating to contamination of potable water.
Reply to inquiries from the owners/occupants, mechanical industry and design engineers.
Examine plans and maintain accurate records of inspections, deficiencies, and reports.
Use MicroSoft Office software regularly for work and communication activities.
Gather evidence and prepare files for informal presentations, either personally or by others.
Attend court hearings and give evidence when required.
Collaborate with fellow team members to ensure compliance and enforcement activities are efficient and effective.
Qualifications
Journeyman Certificate as a Plumber or Gasfitter or provincial equivalent, recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board.
Minimum five years of experience in the trade.
Current American Water Works Association (AWWA) Certification as a Cross Connection Control Specialist.
Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending.
The use of a personal vehicle for work is also required.
Microsoft Office computer program experience (Outlook, Word and Excel) is an asset

Role Description
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager or Community Manager, the Maintenance Technician will contribute and participate in activities related to preventative and unscheduled maintenance, as well as environmental, health and safety, and other special initiatives by performing the following duties, with a goal of providing exceptional resident satisfaction through the delivery of great service to all residents at all times.

Ensure all mechanical and exit doors are secure and properly functioning at all times;
Coordinate and supervise trades work such as painters, electricians, plumbers, etc. when necessary as directed by the Maintenance Manager or Community Manager;
Responsible for cleaning duties, including litter pick-up, sweeping, shoveling, pressure washing, or other as assigned by the Maintenance Manager or Community Manager;
Prepare and organize waste and recycling bins to maintain order and cleanliness in the garbage room;
Ensure property, grounds and vacant suites are kept clean in accordance with QuadReal standards;
Be responsible for opening and locking suite doors for service personnel when entry has been authorized;
Accompany all vendors and contractors in resident suites at all times;
Emergency response and on-call duty, as required; and
Other related duties as required. Must be able to lift at least 25 kilograms.
