Are you exploring the area between Christchurch and Central Otago? We are a family-owned apple orchard just off State Highway 72 (the Inland Scenic Route), 3km north of Geraldine. We are looking for hard-working, fit and motivated guys and girls to join our picking team. We will have 2 to 3 days work next week (probably starting Wednesday March 7 depending on the weather) and there will be more work on an as-required basis over the next few weeks as the crop comes ready. This could enable you to earn some dollars while enjoying all the area has to offer. Geraldine is 2hrs south of Christchurch, 1hr to Tekapo and approx 4hrs to Queenstown/Wanaka. It is a vibrant little town with great cafes and galleries and with great native bush walks nearby. Backpackers and camping ground accommodation is available in the town. We require physically fit and hard working individuals for our kiwifruit picking teams, starting towards the end of March.
Kiwifruit are picked from vines just above head height, into a bag supported from the shoulders weighing up to 20kg when full. As such, you should be physically fit and comfortable spending the day outdoors and on your feet. Teams are usually made up of 15-20 people who work around each other all day, so a good attitude and team spirit will go a long way towards making the experience enjoyable!
Base rate is $16.50/hour moving to $18.00/hour when a reasonable speed is acheived. $18/bin with certain fruit varieties, which can mean up around $25/h+ for teams that work well together.
Starting date is estimated to be March 25th approx, but will not be known for certain until a few days prior to actual start date, due to fruit maturity levels.
Must be eligible to work in NZ . Must have own transportation and accomodation .

You will be required to harvest/pick Feijoa lift and stack crates and general work within the orchard.
