Reporting to the Food Supervisor and Manager of Nutrition & Food Services, the Utility Worker performs basic, routine duties related to the assembly and service of food for patients and cafeteria clientele.
Responsibilities include:
• Delivering patient menus, trays and nourishments
• Communicating with supervisory staff and Dietitians regarding patient food preferences/intolerances/menu issues
• Operating and cleaning dishwasher, food slicer and other equipment as required within the department
• Washing dishes, and pots, pans as required
• Stocking pantry areas on nursing units with nourishments
• Performing extra cleaning within the department, stocks and cleans storeroom, refrigerators and other areas
• Portioning some menu items
• Performing other duties as required
Qualifications
• Grade 12 required (Employees hired prior to September 2004 exempt)
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position (lifting, bending, walking standing)
• Serv Safe Basic course, or willing to take upon hire
• Good attendance and work record
• Competencies in other languages an asset; French preferred

Attendants provide direct and indirect support for various patient care activities. Attendants are accountable and responsible for assisting and supporting other members of the health care team in the provision of a safe and clean environment, upholding infection control standards. This position reports to the Program Manager of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Post Cath/PCI Recovery and Heart Rhythm programs.
Responsibilities
•Assists in transporting, lifting, and positioning of patients. Other patient care activities include, but are not limited to, assisting/supervision during ambulation, toileting, and meal set-up.
•Effectively communicates patient related information to the most appropriate person in a timely manner while maintaining confidentiality.
•Practices infection control and environmental standards/precautions to promote a safe and clean work environment. Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate cleaning products as well as use of and care for cleaning equipment.
•Adheres to procedures for specialized cleaning as per approved standards.
•Responsible for ensuring supplies are ordered and unit is stocked appropriately, including the picking of case supplies for all procedures performed in the unit. Identifies when quotas require adjusting, consults with Program Manager/delegate and obtains approvals as necessary.
•Demonstrates initiative to understand the unit’s daily activities in order to organize and prioritize work.
•Participates at unit huddles and staff meetings by direct attendance, reviewing minutes, and/or forwarding pertinent items for discussion and maintaining awareness of e-mail communication.
•Responsible for completion of annual workplace safety reviews (e.g., WHMIS, FIT testing).
Position Requirements

•Current CPR

•Must have a level of physical fitness suitable to perform the tasks required for this position
