Job Description
The Association is currently seeking to establish a regional director of government relations in Ontario. This position is responsible for the submission of double reports to the Vice President for Government Relations and the Vice President for Regulatory Affairs.
This person develops and supports the Strategic Government and the Stakeholder Relations Program that provides the objectives of the Canadian Propane Association. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating relevant activities, and promoting working relationships
And to support senior executives in their dealings with government, regulatory bodies and key energy sector partners so that our interaction is strategic, coordinated and consistent.
The key to this role is the ability to represent the organization in different capacities, enabling us to defend our interests in an effective and thoughtful manner. Equally important is the ability to work collaboratively with Members and stakeholders to ensure that our positions are clear, consistent and well integrated throughout the Society. This position is based on Toronto, the work of the office. The successful candidate must be able to travel within Ontario.
Responsibilities:
Works closely with the Vice President and Regional Directors of the Association to identify, understand and manage issues related to government and regulatory matters in alignment with strategic priorities
Planning and coordinating meetings / briefings with key members and stakeholders, including logistical details of meetings, pre-meeting and post-meeting strategic sessions, and information gathering with executive officers
Participants, and drafting summaries for internal use.
Develops and strengthens relationships with key and influential decision-makers and influencers both within and outside the government
Strengthen corporate attitudes with senior government officials and other external audiences both in person and in writing
Monitor and conduct research on policy issues and related legislative and policy issues
It supports the management of action plans that affect government relations issues as they arise and impact on the organizational landscape in Ontario.
Proactively introduce regulatory or other appropriate reforms to ensure that the operational needs of CPA members benefit from a favorable and coordinated regulatory environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor or university degree in the relevant field
Excellent knowledge of oil, gas and propane industry is required
Excellent writing, public speaking and presentation skills
Establish a record in the provincial government and / or the corporate governance environment
They understand Ontario's political system, including its legislative, executive and judicial branches
Experience the provision of complex issues and opportunities to high-level officials and third-party partners
