Canada said it would welcome more than a million immigrants over the next three years in an effort to stimulate economic growth and innovation.

Canada will raise the proportion of immigrants during each of the next three years, where it will receive 310 thousand migrants in 2018, and 330 thousand immigrants in 2019, and to welcome the 2020 by 340 thousand immigrants.

Of all these newcomers, about 565,000 will be accepted through economic programs, with a quarter of that coming from one of the Federal Express programs under the Express Entry system.

184,000 economic migrants and their accompanying family members will be admitted through the Provincial Nominee Programs, which allow provinces and territories to nominate individuals based on their ability to stabilize the labor market in those areas.
