The European Parliament's Civil Liberties Committee has approved new draft rules for citizens of countries that are allowed to enter the Schengen area without a visa to apply for permission before reaching the European Union.

Forty-two to 12 voted for the new measures, the European Information and Travel Information System (EITIAS), which would examine the data of non-visa travelers in order to enhance security measures and address irregular migration or high epidemiological risks.

The European Parliament said in a statement that under the new rules, citizens of countries outside the European Union who do not require a visa to the Schengen region must fill out an electronic form containing their personal data, including name, date and place of birth, gender and nationality, Travel "validity and country of issue", home address, contact information and the European country from which the traveler will enter.ALSOREAD: Application for immigration and employment in Italy
